3.2 Optimization Strategies of HRES

The objective function of the optimization problem is the minimization of the aggregate system cost function, TPV(X). This function incorporates capital cost IC(X), operation and maintenance cost OMC(X), the replacement cost RC(X) and cost of the diesel generator (DGc), throughout the lifetime of the installed system.

The objective function for optimally designing the HRES must be minimized as expressed in the following equation:

where, X is the vector of sizing variables; X = NWT, PVA, P Dgr , and E BR .
